Alcohol Treatment for Women: A treatment program for alcoholism or drug dependency designed specifically for women will open Sept. 10 at Fountain Valley Community Hospital. The 58-week program costs $2,550. Patients will meet three times a week for the first six weeks, including one week involving other members of the family and then weekly for the rest of the program. Program manager Susan James said many women are afraid to come forth and talk about their problems, especially in groups with men. However, she added: “A lot of prominent figures have come forth about their chemical dependency and that’s lessened the stigma considerably.” She said the service will be unique in Orange County.
