ATHENS —
Two Bulgarians flew to Greece in a helicopter and asked for asylum in the United States, U.S. Embassy sources said Monday.
The two, whose names were not released, crossed into Greece on Sunday and presented themselves to the U.S. Consulate in the north-eastern city of Thessaloniki.
The sources said U.S. consular authorities handed them over to the Greek authorities and notified the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.
