A collective bargaining agreement granting non-teaching staff a 6% raise has been approved by the Santa Monica Community College District Board of Trustees. The pact between the district and Chapter 36 of the California School Employees Assn. is retroactive to July 1 and affects 243 blue-collar, white-collar and instructional paraprofessionals.

In addition to the raise, the agreement calls for increases in district contributions to the cost of health and welfare benefits. The district also agreed to pay for parking for non-teaching employees who work 37.5 hours a week or less.
