President Reagan has appointed his former television adviser Michael McManus to the board of directors of the Communications Satellite Corp.

McManus, 42, was until earlier this year assistant to the President and deputy to the chief of staff in charge of Reagan’s television and campaign appearances.

In other appointments, Reagan named:

--Former Senate investigations subcommittee counsel F. Keith Adkinson as a member of the advisory committee for trade negotiations--a reappointment.

--Charles Hosler, Pennsylvania State University earth and mineral sciences dean, as a member of the National Science Board of the National Science Foundation.

--Samuel Hellenbrand and Frank Jenkins to second terms on the board of directors of the National Railway Passenger Corp.
