Several seasons ago, Julie Harris brought to TV the life and writings of Emily Dickinson in her one-woman show, “The Belle of Amherst.”

Now, in “Bronte,” she does the same for English novelist Charlotte Bronte in a 90-minute special airing Friday at 9 p.m. on KCET Channel 28.

As the program unfolds, Harris tells not only about Charlotte, who wrote “Jane Eyre,” but about her author-sisters Emily (“Wuthering Heights”) and Anne (“Agnes Grey”) and their life with their dissolute brother and austere clergyman father in a remote Yorkshire parsonage.

William Luce, who wrote “The Belle of Amherst,” also wrote “Bronte.” Sonny Fox produced and Delbert Mann directed. The program was filmed in County Wicklow, Ireland.
