The Region : Manson Follower Loses Bid for Parole

Share

Patricia Krenwinkel, a follower of mass murderer Charles Manson who was convicted in the grisly 1969 Tate-LaBianca slayings, was denied parole for the sixth time. A three-member panel of the California Board of Prison Terms deliberated only 55 minutes before turning down parole for Krenwinkel, whom prosecutor Stephen Kay described as a “complete reflection” of Manson. Krenwinkel, 37, a model prisoner at the California Institution for Women at Frontera, was told she could not appear again until 1988 because of the enormity of the cult slayings that shocked the nation. Board member Joseph Aceto, speaking for the panel, said Krenwinkel was not suitable for parole because the murders were “committed in an especially heinous, atrocious and cruel manner and multiple, multiple victims were killed.”
