Former Rep. Frank Thompson Jr. (D-N. J.), convicted five years ago on bribery and conspiracy charges, is scheduled to be paroled Friday from a federal prison in Lexington, Ky., officials said Wednesday.

Thompson, 67, was chairman of the House Administration Committee when he was convicted by a U.S. District Court jury in Brooklyn, N. Y., in December, 1980. He had been defeated in a reelection campaign a month earlier by Christopher Smith, a Republican who is still in Congress.
