National Semiconductor will shut down again.

The company said it will shut down all of its facilities for nine days in the second quarter ending Dec. 15, bringing to 34 the number of lost workdays this year. Charles Sporck, the company’s president, told workers that shutdowns will continue to occur each quarter until business conditions improve. National Semi said in a statement Aug. 23 that it had a loss of $44.3 million for the first eight weeks of the current quarter, which ends Sept. 22.
