Woman Held in Baby Kidnaping
Acting on an anonymous tip, police Friday found a baby boy they believe was snatched from its mother at Long Beach Community Hospital earlier in the week.
Bakersfield Police Lt. Eric Matlock said an anonymous caller told officers that a woman was living with a baby that did not belong to her. When officers went to the home, Robin Marie Calton, 22, admitted that she dressed as a nurse Monday and took the infant from Euphemia Martinez, 31, on the pretext of taking him to see a doctor, officials said.
The week-old baby, Victor Gabriel Martinez, is reportedly in good condition but was taken to a local hospital for examination, Matlock said.
Calton was booked for investigation of kidnaping.
