New Offices, Expansions : Engineering Firm Moves to Olympic Corridor

C. W. Cook Co. Inc., has moved from 8459 Melrose Ave. to the Westside Towers, 11835 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 375, West Los Angeles. The 74-year-old civil engineering, land planning and land surveying firm had been at the Melrose Avenue address since 1926.

“This is only the third location we’ve had,” according to L. Paul Cook, president of the firm and third generation co-owner with his brother Lloyd J. Cook. The firm has completed more than 41,000 major projects in the Southland since it was founded in 1911 by Clarence Westgate Cook.

Reback Design Associates

Reback Design Associates Inc., has expanded and relocated its offices to Suite 300 in the 10960 Wilshire Boulevard Building in Westwood Village.

McDonnell Douglas

McDonnell Douglas Finance Corp., a subsidiary of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, has moved it corporate offices to the Catalina Landing complex, 340 Golden Shore, Long Beach. The 10-year lease for 33,400 square feet is valued at more than $7 million, according to a spokesman for Charles Dunn Co., which represented McDonnell Douglas Finance in the transaction.

Homes for Sale

Homes for Sale magazine is expected to move into its new corporate headquarters in Irvine in October. The firm will occupy about 10,000 square feet of space, with about 4,800 available for lease. The two-story building at 15 Studebaker Ave. was designed by Hastings-Lundstrom and is being constructed by J. Ray Construction, Irvine. The leasing firm is AIP Commercial Brokerage.

The Seeley Co.

The Seeley Co. has opened a San Fernando Valley office at 21243 Ventura Blvd., Suite 143, Woodland Hills. The office is managed by Joseph R. Kraus, a Seeley vice president. The Seeley Co., a major commercial and industrial realty firm, has offices in downtown Los Angeles, Torrance, San Gabriel Valley and Orange County.

Land/Plan/Design Group

Jess Harris, formerly with Robert Herrick Carter & Associates, has established a land planning and landscape architecture firm, Land/Plan/Design Group, at 4020 Birch St., Suite 201, Newport Beach.

AKAR Architecture

Sat Garg, AIA, formerly with Arthur Erickson Architects, has formed AKAR Architecture & Urban Design Inc., 2826 Washington Ave., Santa Monica.

Crescent Bay Co.

Crescent Bay Co., a diversified real estate firm, has been formed at 1638 19th St., Santa Monica, by Carde/Killefer & Chaddic, a partnership of Charles J. Dragicevich, Scott Carde and Wade Killefer.

Ross Co.

The Ross Co., a firm specializing in single-family detached residential projects, has moved from 2081 Business Center Drive, Irvine, to 840 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach. The firm is headed by W. Ross Mollard and recently opened April Pointe, a 69-unit project in Corona.

Landmark Asset

William L. Hamm and A. Corey Hansen have formed Landmark Asset Development Group, a real estate development company with offices at 1500 Quail St., Suite 500, Newport Beach.

Kaplan/McLaughlin

The San Francisco-based architectural firm of Kaplan/McLaughlin/Diaz Architects has moved its Los Angeles office from 617 S. Olive St. to larger quarters in a single-occupancy, classical-style renovated office building at 11606 San Vicente Blvd., Brentwood. Michael Fejes directs the office. The firm also has offices in Newport Beach and Portland, Ore.

McMahon/Oliphant

McMahon/Oliphant Properties and McMahon Development Inc. has moved to new quarters at 2020 East 1st St., Santa Ana. The firm occupies spaces in The 2020 Building, a five-story, 113,000-square-foot structure developed by McMahon/Oliphant Properties.
