The Kings, coming off their best National Hockey League season since 1981, will open training camp Friday in Victoria, Canada. They held a pre-camp media day Monday at the Forum, where it was revealed that:

--They have agreed to add another year to the two years left on center Marcel Dionne’s contract. The Hockey News reported recently that Dionne is the third-highest paid player in the NHL at $475,000 a season, behind only Wayne Gretzky of the Edmonton Oilers, $800,000; and Mike Bossy of the New York Islanders, $610,000.

--Left wing Daryl Evans, who had asked to be traded, was dealt to the Washington Capitals for center Glen Currie.

Said Dionne, the fourth-leading scorer in the NHL last season with 126 points, of his extension: “It’s a very nice gesture on their part.”

Coach Pat Quinn, faced with a shortage of right wings, said he might move Dionne there. “It wouldn’t bother me,” Dionne said. “I’ve always felt that it’s good to play another position.”

Evans scored the winning goal in overtime to give the Kings a 6-5 win over the Edmonton Oilers in the third game of the playoffs in 1982. However, he had appeared in only 11 games with the Kings in the last two seasons, scoring one goal in 1984-85 and an assist in 1983-84.

Currie, 27, is a six-year NHL veteran.
