A New York bank became the 81st failure this year.
The insured deposits and preferred deposits of People’s National Bank, located in Ramapo, N.Y., will be transferred to First National Bank of Highland, N.Y., the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said. The failed bank’s only office will reopen by Wednesday as a branch of First National. People’s National Bank had about $18.7 million in deposits in 7,445 accounts. It was the 81st bank failure in the nation this year, compared to 79 failures in the United States last year.
