It’s Time for Rose Bowl to Drop the Little Ten
After watching USC throttle Illinois, I feel it is again time to urge the Rose Bowl committee to terminate the current pact. Since its formation, the Pac-10 has more than dominated the Rose Bowl.
Not surprisingly, and in spite of their collective population advantage, Big Ten schools have gone to California in search of sophisticated passing attacks. This year, Illinois fields 24 players out of the state of California, and seemingly, along with the rest of the Big Ten, has adopted the adage: If you can’t beat them, join them.
Years ago, the Pacific Coast Conference played an at-large team in the Rose Bowl. It is time to return to that format.
