Movie theater patrons in Great Britain are getting a jolt between pictures from a 65-second Greenpeace spot encouraging viewers to boycott fur coats. Glamorously photographed, it depicts a fashion show erupting into terror when a model’s fur coat gushes blood that floods the stage and splatters the screaming audience. It’s reportedly so shocking that exhibitors are showing it only with films for mature audiences.
Kelly Rigg, wildlife campaign director for Greenpeace USA, said by phone from Washington that the spot won’t be shown here because “its strict objective is to stop the importation of furs into the U.K. caught by means that are illegal there.”
