Playboy No Worse Than TV Comedy

Regarding the article (Southeast / Long Beach section, Sept. 7-8) about the fears of some that the Playboy Channel may make it to Long Beach, I would much rather have our cable subscribers have the option of including the Playboy Channel with a provided restriction key in their programming array than have the low-class, totally foul-mouthed and to my mind obscene “comedy” of some of today’s entertainers, such as Richard Pryor, openly spotlighted on Showtime and HBO.

If (Councilman Warren) Harwood and (Craig) Garbe are so concerned with moral values, they should make efforts now to keep such disgusting and desensitizing shows off television. People who enjoy such stomach-wrenching efforts should not get it any easier than those who want to watch sex-oriented Playboy Channel programming.
