The number of bombings in the United States in the first six months of this year decreased by 6%, compared to the same period a year ago, the FBI said. The bureau said explosive bombings were down 3%, while incendiary bombings declined 20%. Of the 362 incidents reported this year, actual detonation or ignition occurred 306 times. Only one bombing was attributed to a terrorist group, which the FBI did not identify. The bombings resulted in 10 deaths, 44 injuries and property damage estimated at more than $3.6 million.
