Canada gained its first berth in the World Cup soccer finals with a 2-1 victory over Honduras at St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Canada, which missed out on a place in the 1982 World Cup finals in Spain by one goal, becomes the eighth nation to clinch a berth in the 24-nation finals in Mexico next year.
