An emotional outburst by Irish-American spectators today disrupted a Senate hearing on a new U.S.-British treaty to ease extradition of political foes of British rule over Northern Ireland.

The uproar at the usually serene Senate Foreign Relations Committee came after Sen. Thomas F. Eagleton, a Missouri Democrat, said a bomb attack aimed at Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in Brighton was perpetrated by “a bunch of thugs.”
