President Hafez Assad issued decrees Saturday giving pay raises and increasing home-heating fuel allowances for state employees and military personnel, the official Syrian news agency SANA said.
The decrees, effective Oct. 1, provide graduated pay raises of 10 to 25% for civil servants and military personnel and a 5% to 15% increase in monthly pensions for retired state employees, SANA said.
