San Clemente : Concrete Firm Fined for Polluting Channel
- Share via
Operators of a San Clemente concrete company have been assessed a total of $4,700 in fines and fees after pleading no contest to charges of unlawful pollution of a flood control channel.
The judgment was entered by South Orange County Municipal Judge George Nelson, who also placed Lyman’s Concrete Co. on three-year probation.
A complaint was filed against the firm Aug. 7 by state Fish and Game Warden Darryl Avila after a grayish substance was found by county Environmental Management Agency inspectors in Segundo Deshecha Canada Creek.
Avila said that the creek was void of plant and animal life from the company site to the ocean, about 1 1/2 miles away.
