Winless Kings Are Defeated by Winnipeg, 7-6

Right wing Paul MacLean of the Winnipeg Jets scored two goals to lead the Jets to a 7-6 win over the Kings in a National Hockey League exhibition game Saturday night before 10,612 fans at the Winnipeg Arena.

The Kings, who play the Canucks tonight at Vancouver, are winless in five exhibition games. The Jets are 3-1-1.

The Kings cut three players after the game to reduce their roster to 28. Defenseman Bruce Shoebottom and left wing Darcy Roy were assigned to the Kings’ farm team in New Haven, Conn., and left wing Dan Gratton was sent back to his junior hockey league team in Oshawa, Canada.
