RTD Student Passes Delayed

Delays in issuing new student identification cards for the 1985-86 school year have prompted the Southern California Rapid Transit District to extend the recently expired cards for one month, an RTD spokesman said.

Rick Jaeger said a full-time high school student may take the old card, which expired Sept. 30, to any of the 400 RTD outlets at supermarkets and other businesses to get a stamp making it valid for the purchase of a discount bus pass through October. The new cards, good through September, 1986, will be mailed before Nov. 1, Jaeger said.

A student new to the area, or one who has not previously applied for the card, he added, must go to one of the RTD’s 10 regional customer service centers for an old card with the identification stamp making that card valid until the new one is received.
