‘Baby on Board’

Share

Warning alerts seem to be the latest motoring fad, either as little rectangular stop lights in rear windows or signs that proclaim, “Baby on Board” or “Child in Car.”

I, for one, find the stop lights distracting and annoying. If extra stop lights were necessary they would have been put in by the auto makers in the first place.

As for the baby signs, I never know how to respond. Am I supposed to refrain from colliding with this vehicle? Lower my voice? Perhaps wave to the little tyke? And I’m always outraged when I carefully ease past a “Baby on Board” car only to find there’s no one on board but an adult driver. Shouldn’t he be ticketed for false advertising?

A motorist with an infant should adjust his own driving and not have the chutzpah to expect others to somehow make way for him and his brat.
