French Sinking of Greenpeace Ship

Share

I was amazed to read that the premier of France could state that the French intelligence agents who sank the ship Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand and caused the death of a crewman “must, of course, be exempted from blame” because they “only obeyed orders.” Of course, Nazi Germany and the Nuremberg trials spring instantly to mind. Perhaps the premier forgot all that.

Is it official French policy to forgive a flagrantly criminal act by its agents because someone told them to do it?
