Rowlands Information Sought

For a book on early days in Northern and Southern California I need help in locating information about a young actor/stunt man of the 1920s-1944, Arthur M. Rowlands. (He briefly rose to assistant director in 1938.)

His death was noted in Variety. Surely there must be someone who remembers Rowlands and his widow, Betty Dietrick.
