VIDEORGY: If you think the male rock videos on MTV are sexist, then what do you make of the clips by female-led bands, which seem to go out of their way to focus on the most shapely members of the group, while keeping the less sexy members in the background. A current case in point: “Never,” the new video by Heart, a group led by two sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson. Though Ann is the group’s lead singer, guitarist Nancy cuts the most striking figure. So guess which sister gets the spotlight treatment in the clip--Nancy, of course. In fact, the clip goes to great length to show off Nancy’s bosomy figure while relegating Ann to shadowy close-ups and long-shots. . . . Of course, when it comes to bad videos, watch for “I Want You Back,” a new clip by Simon F. The video depicts the long-haired British poseur being pursued by a sultry blonde who, like so many women in MTV videos, wiles away the hours performing stripteases, climbing all over Simon at a candlelight dinner and even playing guitar on a contraption strapped to the back of a male dummy, which she throws away at the end of her solo. . . . And on a slightly brighter note, New Edition has a new video due out next month, “Stop the Madness.” The video highlights its anti-drug message by including special appearances by such celebrities as Stacy Keach and Nancy Reagan.
