Zoo Gets Accreditation: The Santa Ana Zoo, which houses more than 100 species of animals and features a large primate collection that includes lemurs, woolly monkeys and red-backed squirrel monkeys, has received accreditation from the American Assn. of Zoological Parks and Aquariums. Curator Claudia Collier said that the accreditation is recognition of high standards of animal care and zoo management. Other facilities that have received the ranking include the Los Angeles and San Diego zoos. The Santa Ana Zoo has seen several improvements recently, Collier said, including a 150-seat amphitheater.
