Cybill Shepherd, who stars in ABC’s “Moonlighting,” did a little moonlighting of her own this past summer. She joined Don Johnson (of “Miami Vice”), Ava Gardner, Tony winner Judith Ivey and Tony and Oscar winner Jason Robards to star in NBC’s four-hour production of “The Long Hot Summer.”

The drama, filmed in Louisiana and Texas, will be presented in two parts, Sunday and Monday, 9-11 p.m., on Channels 4, 36, 39. Johnson plays a mysterious and misunderstood drifter who disrupts life in a small Mississippi town that is ruled by a wealthy land baron.

The TV movie is based on William Faulkner’s “The Hamlet” and the 1958 movie that starred Paul Newman.
