Local News in Brief : Burbank Will Study Reservoir’s Restoration
- Share via
The Burbank City Council on Tuesday authorized a study to determine the feasibility of restoring a seven-million-gallon reservoir that dates from 1928.
The $27,000 contract was awarded to consultants LeRoy Crandall & Associates of Los Angeles to assess the security of the covered reservoir. Restoring the reservoir would cost $1.9 million to $2.3 million, according to Thomas H. McCauley, general manager of the city’s public services department.
The reservoir, built on a hillside at Sunset Canyon Drive and Magnolia Boulevard, has an earthen wall and a concrete-lined basin. A brush fire in December, 1980, damaged the roof but left the reservoir otherwise intact, according to McCauley.
