Woman Falls Off Truck, Is Killed
A 55-year-old Orange woman died Thursday when a gust of wind threw her and the cardboard she was steadying from the back of her husband’s pickup truck.
Noi Van Nguyen, 56, was driving his truck down Batavia Street near Barkley Avenue in Orange early Thursday afternoon, carrying a load of cardboard sheets, said Orange Police Sgt. Mike Skogh. Nhi Thi Nguyen was holding the sheets in the pickup bed when the gust caught her.
The woman struck her head on the ground, Skogh said. She was taken to UCI Medical Center, where she died of head injuries two hours later, a coroner’s spokesman said.
