Suit Protests Prison Rule

The American Civil Liberties Union has filed suit in Los Angeles to overturn a rule at the federal minimum-security prison at Lompoc that bars American Indians from wearing headbands in the cafeteria.
A number of Indians began a hunger strike Sept. 23. The U.S. District Court suit claims the rule violates constitutional guarantees of freedom of religion and federal laws protecting native American culture and religion.
