Second-Place Finish Earns Mauch’s Angels a Little Second Guess

There will be hundreds of reasons why the Angels blew it, but I think mine is a prime one. If the Angel management had concentrated on a strong pitching staff with depth in starting and relief men, instead of spending large sums of money to obtain over-the-hill celebrity players like Reggie Jackson and Rod Carew, to name only two of many, the Angels, like the Dodgers, would be a winner.
