Medical Centers : Design Firm Chosen for Nursing Complex

Krommenhoek/McKeown & Associates, San Diego, has been retained by American Health Group International to design a $12-million skilled nursing complex. The 193,000-square-foot complex, to be called Deodar Springs Care Center, will be located on a 13-acre site at 506 Deodar Road, Escondido. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer, 1986, with completion planned for spring, 1987.

Kitchell Selected

Kitchell Contractors has been awarded a contract by American Healthcare Management to provide design phase construction management services for the Monterey Park Community Hospital project. The hospital is planning 40,000 square feet of new construction and 20,000 square feet of renovation, a three-phase, $8-million project.

Medical Clinic Planned

St. Joseph Medical Center, Burbank, has bought the property at Hollywood Way and Pacific in Burbank and will begin construction of a medical outreach clinic to serve the industrial and residential community. The project, with a total cost of $5 million, is scheduled for completion for next spring. The center will provide outpatient services including alcohol and chemical dependency, and will house Burbank’s first licensed adult day care center.

Scripps Design Done

Architects Dominy/Larson/Carpenter have completed the design of the Anderson Pavilion ambulatory surgery facility for Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. The 2,000-square-foot, $100,000 project includes the upgrading and expansion of the existing ambulatory surgery department to accommodate the clinic’s increased patient volume. Construction will begin by the end of 1985. PM Construction Co. is the general contractor; the mechanical engineer is Practicon Associates, and the electrical engineer is Turpin & Rattan, Engineering Inc.

Complex Planned

A $3.3-million skilled nursing care facility is planned at 657 E. Bradley Ave., El Cajon. The 34,900-square-foot facility, to be called Vista del Cerro, is scheduled for completion by spring, 1987. Krommenhoek/McKeown & Associates, San Diego, has been awarded the design contract. Project architect is Glenn Groth; S. E. I. is structural engineer.

V A Center Update Set

The Stichler Design Group Inc. has completed the preliminary design for the $2-million modernization of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in San Diego. The 15,000-square-foot renovation will provide eight medical intensive care unit beds and eight coronary care unit beds.
