Political terrorism is the subject of “Under Siege,” a TV movie that explores how the government of the United States reacts to escalating acts of violence against its citizens. The drama for NBC will star Hal Holbrook as the President, E.G. Marshall as the secretary of state, Paul Winfield as the secretary of defense, Peter Strauss as the FBI director and George Grizzard as a Washington newspaper editor.

Shirley MacLaine will portray herself in “Out on a Limb,” a five-hour miniseries for ABC based on her book. Part of the film will be shot on location in Peru as MacLaine dramatizes her quest for spiritual awareness. The Academy Award-winning actress (“Terms of Endearment”) also co-authored the script with Colin Higgins.

An upcoming episode of “The Love Boat” on ABC will deal with artificial insemination. Ellen Bry plays an unmarried, career-oriented stockbroker who is taking a cruise after becoming pregnant, only to fall in love with a man (Ben Murphy) who can’t stand the idea that he wouldn’t be the child’s natural father.
