The death of a 24-year-old man who was run over by a train in Sun Valley over the weekend was apparently a suicide, Los Angeles police said.
The engineer of the train, traveling north near San Fernando Road and Sheldon Street at about 10 p.m. Saturday, said he saw the victim sit up on the tracks and then lie down again as the train approached at about 40 m.p.h., Sgt. Steve Moede said. The engineer braked but could not slow the train, Moede said.
Police identified the victim as Larry Combs, 24, of Estacada, Ore.
