Volcker Says He Won’t Resign

WASHINGTON —
Federal Reserve Board chairman Paul A. Volcker today flatly denied persistent reports that he would leave his post before his term is up in August, 1987, to assume the presidency of the World Bank.
“I’m here. I’m staying,” Volcker told a business conference sponsored by the American Stock Exchange. “Nothing is forever but that is how things stand at the moment.”
