NFL Officials Finally Catch Up With the Rams in Tampa Bay

Share

The Rams were the National Football League’s least penalized team before last Sunday, drawing only 27 citations for 179 yards in five games. Then referee Ben Dreith’s crew tagged them 11 times for 94 yards at Tampa.

After studying the films, Ram Coach John Robinson said Tuesday: “I thought the officiating was quite unusual. It seemed to be out of control. Have you ever seen a team kick off from the 15-yard line before?”

Nevertheless, the Rams won, 31-27, to remain undefeated.

Robinson added: “That particular crew had called 19 penalties on Cincinnati the week before. Maybe it was the heat.”
