Top prizes in the Elan ’85 Awards, emblematic of superior achievements in home construction and marketing in three Southland counties, were won by EPAC Equities, the Whitehawk Partnership and Raznick & Sons--Bergheer Co. The firms’ projects--Le Parc-Simi Townhomes, Whitehawk Ranch in Saugus and The Colony at Mandalay Beach in Oxnard--were selected as grand award winners for projects with an average sales price under $125,000; from $125,000 to $175,000, and over $175,000, respectively.

The Le Parc homes were designed by Johannes van Tilburg and Partners, with interior design by Color Design Art. Randy Washington Group-VCA designed the Whitehawk Ranch dwellings with interior design by Carole Eichen Interiors.

The Times was misinformed as to the location of Whitehawk Ranch, a development of the Whitehawk Partnership and a grand award winner in the Elan awards, sponsored by the Sales and Marketing Council of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The project is in Sylmar, not Saugus. The award was for best interior design of a detached home with an average selling price between $125,000 and $175,000,

The official list of Elan Awards, sponsored annually by the Sales & Marketing Council of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, published Oct. 20, contained errors in two categories. In the competition for the “Best Sales Office Under 500 Square Feet,” displays in the winning sales office of the A.M. Co.’s Fairways project were built by Darryl Bockelman Displays. In the category of “Best Logo,” credit for the winning Le Parc logo should have been given to Taylor & Wilson Advertising. In each case, other firms were incorrectly listed by contest officials.

Corbin/Yamafuji & Partners and Yeiser-Garland & Associates with Cher-Ron Associates were the architects and interior designers, respectively, for the Mandalay Beach development.

More than 300 entries were submitted for the third annual competition among home construction-related firms in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, and nearly 1,000 attended the presentations at the Century Plaza Hotel, Kathy Dantagnan, chairwoman, said. Gary Owens served as master of ceremonies and Peter Mayer as producer.

Individual honors went to Patricia Logan, D & S Co., as the sales and marketing director of the year, while Mel Wynn, president of GLENFED Development, was named outstanding chief executive officer of the year. The President’s Award went to Polly Franks, marketing director of the A .M. Co.

Jim Swingley and Christina Graaf, of the D & S Co., were named the top sales leaders for their work at Heartland Homes II in Sylmar, and Loretta Chaky of Urban West was named rookie sales person of the year.
