David Davenport has been inaugurated as Pepperdine University’s sixth president. Davenport, 34, becomes one of the youngest university presidents in the nation. A former executive vice president of the Malibu-based university, Davenport succeeds retiring Howard A. White, who will serve in an emeritus capacity and on the Board of Regents. Pepperdine was founded in 1937 in Los Angeles by George Pepperdine, who established Western Auto Supply Co.
