Protected Reptiles Killed, Paper Reports

ASUNCION, Paraguay —
Professional hunters are killing hundreds of thousands of jacares, reptiles similar to alligators, in an area that borders Bolivia and Brazil, a local newspaper said Tuesday. The creature is protected in Paraguay.
El Diario Noticias said that the skins, sold for $15 each in Bolivia, are eventually exported to Europe and the United States.
