Carson : Waste Treatment Sites Protested

Share

City officials have endorsed a letter of protest to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, expressing opposition to a county proposal that selected four sites in Carson as possible locations for hazardous-waste treatment facilities.

In the letter, officials pointed out that Carson already has several county facilities that exist for regional benefit, including the Rapid Transit District bus maintenance facility and the Sanitation Districts waste water treatment plant.

Officials also voiced concerns that the four Carson sites chosen by the county are near residential areas. The four sites were included in a September report listing 15 to 20 possible county locations for hazardous-waste facilities.
