Marc Buoniconti Suffers Serious Neck Injury
Citadel linebacker Marc Buoniconti, son of former All-Pro linebacker Nick Buoniconti, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition Saturday at Johnson City, Tenn., suffering from a neck injury received in a game with East Tennessee State.
“He is listed in critical condition, and we are doing some more tests,” a hospital spokesman said. “There has been no operation at this point, and, as with any neck injury, he has been immobilized.”
Buoniconti, a 5-10, 185-pound sophomore, was injured while trying to tackle East Tennessee State running back Herman Jacobs in the first quarter.
Citadel won the game, 28-21.
Buoniconti’s father, who played college football at Notre Dame, was an All-Pro with the Boston Patriots and Miami Dolphins.
