The government has banned 102 opposition groups in the Cape Town area from holding meetings without police permission and made it illegal for local students to be on the streets during school hours.

Police said three more people were killed in anti-apartheid rioting late Sunday and early today in Cape province.

The government measures, announced late Sunday night, affect local affiliates of the United Democratic Front, a multiracial anti-apartheid coalition, and numerous black consciousness groups.

The measures also make it a crime to carry gasoline in a container or siphon it from cars. Gasoline bombs have been used frequently by rioters to attack police and vehicles.

Police headquarters today said the charred body of a black man was discovered by a patrol in Kwazakele, near Port Elizabeth, in what appeared to be the slaying of a suspected government collaborator by other blacks.

In Salt River near Cape Town, a man of mixed race was found dead. Police provided no details on the killing.

A white farmer today fired into a crowd of black youths throwing stones at his truck near Cape Town, killing one of them.
