Messier and Anderson Lead Oilers to 6-4 Win

CALGARY, Alberta — Mark Messier snapped a 4-4 tie in the third period and Glenn Anderson scored a hat trick Monday night to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 6-4 victory over the Calgary Flames.
With the Oilers on a power play, Messier converted a pass from Wayne Gretzky on a 2-1 break and beat Calgary goaltender Rejean Lemelin at 14:02 of the third period. Gretzky had a goal and three assists in the game.
Anderson put the Oilers ahead 2-1 at 10:49 and got his second goal of the night on a power play 37 seconds later for a 3-1 lead. He completed the hat trick by scoring into an empty net with eight seconds left.
