Auto Imports

Perhaps our government should extend the Japanese auto import quotas for another three years and change the limit to no more than 25,000 cars per year.

At that rate we can pay an average of $30,000 for a $6,000-car; then, with their profits, General Motors and Ford can lobby for a government rollback to a 15 m.p.g. fuel standard and:

1--GM could buy IBM.

2--Ford could buy Xerox.

3--Chrysler could buy the Bank of America.
