Beckman to Be Honored: The North Orange County YMCA has named Arnold Beckman its Humanitarian of the Year and will honor the industrialist at an awards dinner Nov. 16 in Anaheim. Beckman, founder and chairman of Beckman Instruments in Fullerton, is being honored for his philanthropic work and civic involvement. Proceeds from the dinner will be used to build a playground for children in the YMCA’s preschool and after-school child care programs. The playground, 2000 Youth Way in Fullerton, will be named after Beckman.
