Redevelopment Possibilities
The following projects are among those that could be financed by a redevelopment agency in Vista. They were suggested in a consultant’s study completed earlier this year. If creation of an agency is approved by voters Tuesday, numerous public hearings would then be held to draft a redevelopment plan and determine which projects are favored by residents.
- Downtown landscaping: $650,000
- Parks and recreation improvements: $5.65 million
- Street lighting and relocation of utilities underground: $5.75 million
- New public facilities: $8.7 million
- Civic center and public facilities improvements: $10.5 million
- Public schools improvements: $20 million
- Private investment incentives: $25.6 million
- Traffic and parking improvements, including a one-way route that would skirt downtown: $47.3 million
