Assemblywoman Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles) has been honored by educational and civic groups for her efforts in preventing child abuse and neglect. Waters authored AB 2443, providing $11.2 million in state funds for preventive child abuse education for public school students as well as their parents, teachers and staff members. At the award ceremony in the Airport Viscount Hotel, Waters was presented awards and commendations by groups in an event coordinated by the Southern California Child Abuse Prevention Training Center at California State University, Los Angeles.
