Hong Kong Takes Aim at Illegal Immigration

HONG KONG —
Police on Sunday warned that anyone convicted of helping immigrants from China illegally enter Hong Kong can be sentenced to life and subjected to fines up to $640,000.
More than 1,700 illegal Chinese immigrants were rounded up last month, the highest number for any month this year, and more than 500 people have been prosecuted this year for helping the immigrants.
