Com Systems Earnings Drop 2 Cents a Share

Share

Com Systems, a Van Nuys-based long distance telephone company, said its earnings fell 77% in the second quarter ended Sept. 30 to $103,000, or 2 cents a share, from a year earlier. The company said its sales dropped 27% to $5.9 million in the quarter.

The company said its earnings dropped from a year earlier because last year’s results included revenues and profits from Tel-America Communications Services, a North Carolina-based subsidiary that Com Systems sold in March.

For the six months, Com Systems posted a loss of $176,000, or 4 cents a share, from a profit of $291,000, or 7 cents a share, a year earlier.
